2012 STATE AGE SQUADS
Nomination Forms will be available at the Control Building and must be returned by SAT 6 AUGUST.
Each year the talented players of our district represent Randwick Netball Association playing the best players of other districts throughout NSW in a number of carnivals leading up to the State Age Championships (Championship Division is at Wyong in July 2012). Interested players from all club teams are invited to attend the selection trials where a talented train on squad will be chosen. Following a series of training sessions a further trial will be held and the final Representative Team chosen.
To trial for selection you must first complete a form and hand in to the Control Building by the 6 AUGUST (semi final round). If you miss this date or you have any problems on trial day (sick, injured) please contact Narelle Brown on 0419 291 836 (Randwick Rugby players only!) If you have other sporting commitments and are not sure about trying out we recommend you trial and then discuss what arrangements can be made. The Selectors and coaches each year have talented girls with representative swimming, athletics, basketball commitments and will try to organize a flexible schedule to allow these girls to continue with their representative netball. Selection nomination forms are available from the Control Building.
The trials will be held at J.J.CAHILL HIGH SCHOOL - NOTE THIS IS A CHANGE OF VENUE FROM PREVIOUS YEARS!

Our club encourages all talented RRNC girls to trial. If anyone is interested in some training prior to the selections email Narelle Brown - I usually hold a few sessions so the girls can brush up on some skills.GOOD LUCK TO ALL TRYING OUT!
11s TALENT SQUAD FOR 2012
The selectors will be watching all current 10 year olds (including those playing up) and will continue through the semis - grand final to identify potentially talented players. Selectors may ask coaches about the players and take names - this does not mean they have been selected but are identified as having potential. A group of only approximately 40 girls will be chosen and asked to attend 3 or 4 training sessions with representative coaches to help develop their skills. A trial is then held to select the final squad of 20 players to continue to train and play in 3 or 4 carnivals next year. Any questions ring Narelle Brown on 0419 291 836.

GABI SIMPSON
Gabi played her junior netball with Randwick Rugby - some of you will remember her as a coach at our clinics. We are very proud of her latest achievments and wish her continued success with her representative netball. We hope to see her playing in the ANZ Championships soon!
Gabi was selected to play for NSW 19/Us team at the recent National Championships. She had a very successful week - NSW won the Nationals and Gabi was honoured with the Most Valuable Player Award in the 19/Us. She has now been selected in the NSW 21/U team to play in the National Championships. Gabi has also been recognised as a potential Australian Diamonds player as she was also selected in the Australian 19/U squad and will be playing for Australia in an upcoming match against the National Samoa team.
WELL DONE GABI!!
Here is the press release:
New South Wales’ Gabi Simpson and Queensland’s Charlotte Goodman were honoured with the annual San Remo Most Valuable Player awards at the conclusion of the 2011 National Netball Championships.
Awarded annually, the San Remo MVP is presented to an individual in both the 17/U and 19/U divisions for their outstanding performance for their state or territory throughout the weekend long tournament.
For Simpson, the individual accolade was a cherry on top of an incredible week with the mid-court player a member of the NSW 19/U national champions squad and was selected in the 19/U Australian squad.
“I’m absolutely shocked and it’s such a relief to have the week over with,” Simpson said.
“The aim was to win the championship, we did that and that was all we wanted to do, this award is just a big bonus.”
“I think I played pretty well but I didn’t think I played outstanding but I’m very happy with it.”
“It’s a bit overwhelming, I can’t stop crying.”
CHELSEA PITMAN
Chelsea is a Randwick local junior and played for Randwick Rugby as well as other clubs. She has represented NSW and held an AIS scholarship. She is currently playing WA for the Queensland Firebirds in the ANZ Championship. Chelsea has been playing so well that she was the first nominee for the 2011 Best Young Player Award. WELL DONE CHELSEA AND GOOD LUCK!
